Wages in Poland are determined, as in France, in accordance with collective agreements or company agreements.
Poland and France are among those Member States of the European Union where the minimum wages are set by the legislator. However, among them there are great disparities: for instance, as of 2023, the official minimum salary in Poland is of 3.490 zlotys per month (around 740 euros), while in France it is of 1.709,28 euros.
Wages are higher in the capital than in the other parts of the country. While statistically, a woman performing the same or comparable work as a man, earns less, Poland has recorded one of the lowest gender pay gap in the EU. The difference in earnings is, in fact, 4.5 % to the detriment of women, while the EU average is 13.0 %.
